Disney Cruise to Alaska with toddlers!
Alaska is my very favorite place to cruise and we did not want to wait any longer to go back, which means kids were coming with us! We have 3 littles, 2,2 and 4 so cruising with Disney Cruise Line is a no brainer!
I was a little nervous that they would be bored the whole time, I remember our first Alaska cruise a little boy telling his dad "it's just ice" but that was not the case! Even when they did get a little antsy they had the kids club and nursery to go run around and have fun.
We sailed out of Vancouver Canada, if this city is not on your list it should be! It is a very clean city and there is such much to do and see. We especially loved the Capiliano Suspension bridge, you can buy tickets here before you go!
We stayed at Pan Pacific which is right in Canada place. The hotel elevator goes straight to where you board your cruise! So convenient especially with kids in tow! Not having to load up the car the morning of and figure out everything was so nice. Not to skip ahead but when we got back to Vancouver at the end of the cruise we were less than a half hour from getting off the ship, through customs/immigration and in our car driving home because we were able to leave our car parked in hotel parking! Highly recommend this hotel, even at the higher price point.
Once we were onboard we got to our stateroom that already had a diaper genie and pack n plays that I had requested previously. All staterooms have a mini fridge which makes it super easy to keep kids snacks/milk in the room. Deck 9 has whole milk right by the soda machines. We fill up a couple sippy cups each time and leave them in the fridge each day so we aren't scrambling. We unpacked and I had the kids help me put out our fish extenders and decorate our stateroom door.
We opted for a Verandah stateroom this time and it was completely worth the extra cost. When the twins were napping we still could enjoy the amazing Alaskan scenery passing by. Disney also has the rooms set up so they can be split by a curtain and the tv can be seen on both sides, again perfect for earlier bedtimes/naps.
The first day is an open house so you can go in all the kid/teen spaces. It is the perfect time to play in the kids clubs with your littles so they aren't as nervous to go. I love that it also gives me the opportunity to meet the counselors my kids will be hanging out with that week.
Vacationing with kids is always a little or a lot of stress depending on the moment, but setting yourself up for success on the first day can do wonders for the rest of the trip! As well as picking a vacation that is tailored towards families. Just remember they won't always be this age and if you miss something because you were going at their pace, it is ok! The little moments of watching things through their eyes, turning any moment into a spinning dance party, being late to a show to meet allllll the characters in the atrium end up being my favorite moments of the trip.
